University of Michigan's star running back and First Team All-American, Blake Corum, has added another prestigious accolade to his already impressive collection. Corum has been named this year's honorary captain for the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®.
This recognition is a testament to Corum's remarkable contributions both on and off the field. Known for his exceptional skills and dedication to giving back, he has become an inspiration to many.
One of Corum's notable initiatives is his annual "Giving Back 2 Give Thanks" turkey drive, which has become a cherished tradition in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. Since 2021, Corum has used funds from his name, image, and likeness opportunities to provide turkeys and Thanksgiving essentials to families in underserved communities in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
But Corum's impact doesn't stop there. He actively volunteers at the Community, Leadership, and Revolution Academy, where he supports young children in their aspirations through sports nutrition, reading, and writing. His dedication to empowering the next generation is truly commendable.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team recognizes college football athletes from all divisions who demonstrate outstanding community service. Since the roster announcement in September, fans have been actively voting for their honorary captain based on impactful community efforts on ESPN.com/Allstate.
"It’s an honor to be the captain for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team," Corum said. "My passion for giving back is genuine and driven by purpose. I don’t seek recognition, but it’s heartening to see the impact my efforts have on my community, fans and partners like Allstate."
Troy Hawkes, executive vice president and general manager of sales at Allstate, praised Corum's compassion and commitment to community involvement. "Blake is a solid example of compassion and an ardent advocate for community involvement," said Troy Hawkes, executive vice president and general manager of sales at Allstate. "His unwavering commitment has made a positive impact, and we anticipate it will continue to do so."
The recognition for Corum's exceptional work will be celebrated at The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 8th, broadcasted on ESPN. Additionally, he will be honored at the Allstate Sugar Bowl® on January 1st.
